You are joking right? You can't possibly think you are better than someone because you owned a game first
No one has the right to put someone down because they couldn't afford a game at the time or didn't hear about GW till later than you and a lot of those people support GW just as much as you!

Wow if that elf dares to show his bespectacled, pointy-hat butt in my inventory, I'm not even going to sell him... he's going straight to the bin. I don't think I could even scrape up 5 gp off of it.
Some of the minis are pretty cool, like the Lich, Aatxe, Juggernaut and the Djinn, but the rest are just... meh. I'm thinking mini Koss and Gwen was just what a lot of airheaded PvP people want "d00d giev mini Koss!" "I want mini Gwen!" If you want something following you around, why not something that looks dangerous as well as is dangerous? Gwen really has no ingame point except for a couple quests and a companion. Koss... his full name is Koss Zergrush Jenkins. I doubt many people have ever seen the "Thorn Wolf", and I think less like it. The elf... it's just wrong. Ever noticed the *ahem* suggestive comments towards people using elf tonic? Harpies and heket... I don't think they'd really by hyped. Palawa Joko is a different story, but not many people know who he is (though I really like the part where he's yelling at his army) Fire Imps... sure, their squealing may be a little cute to some people, but... they're ugly :P Mandragors: A lot of people hate these things.
I know ANET is trying to pander to the PvP people, but there are still a great amount of people who do NOT think Koss and Gwen are cool. Almost everyone detests the elf. The only I have seen that have at least some support by the PvE side are the Aatxe, Lich, Juggernaut, Djinn, and Palawa.
Personally I want a miniature Margonite Bowmaster I can snuggle up with on cold rainy day (maybe not so miniature, full size. Don't direct me to a real one, because he shoots me before I can hug him.)

If anyone really hates their minis, I will willingly take them off your hands.
PM me if interested.
My opinion of the new minis:
They're great! Too bad I have to wait 5 more months to get one...
Looks like the Elf is the new Devourer.
Too bad I'll never be able to afford a Gwen... she'll be worth more than a Bone Dragon, wait and see.

Lame... -_-;
I doubt I'll be in Guild Wars long enough to even reach the 2nd birthday... and as it stands I doubt I'll be missing much. The selection of 2nd birthday miniatures is lame to the extreme...
The only exception is the Juggernaut.
Now... if they'd done Mini Construct (or Shiro'ken Warrior / Assassin)... that'd have been cool. Mini Black Moa would have been extremely awesome (and gone well with the big one)... Mini Mungri Magicbox would have made me squee with delight....
But no.
They did toads, spikey plants, walking corpses... and the most annoying thing known to GW-kind: the wintersday elf. I swear... if I ever get followed around an area by a tapdancing pointyhat again I will rage-quit the game on the spot... -_-;

the only minipets I like from what I've seen is the djinn and aataxe and I suppose Gwen. The majority just aren't so cute in my opinion..
Though I share a view with a quite a few players posting; I would've liked to see something unique this time round, minipets AGAIN to mark the occasion for a much more special second birthday was as someone said earlier, uncreative. Don't get me wrong I'm not being ungrateful, theres much difference between that and dissapointed.
I doubt I'll be selling any my characters get though, unless its an elf -.-;

Gaile could the people who started in factions get minipets other than the ho-hum stale minipets that have been out for a year now? The old minipets arent new exciting or worth anything.
I have a guildie who started in nightfall and only owns nightfall. The first year minipets dont have a possibility of even dropping a monster that he sees in his own game. They will have been out for 18 or so months before he gets to see a birthday.

I don't even understand some of the choices they used.They could have used such better monsters/NPC's.
Examples:
The Hunger
The Drought
The Blasphemy
Prince Bokka the Magnificiant.
Prince Ahmtur the Mighty.
Prince Mehtu the Wise.
Only 3 of the whole set are of any actual worth,Lich and Palawa Joko since they're major parts of the plot,and the Djinn since it actually looks good.And Gwen since some retards out there will be willing to pay 100k+Triple Digit Ectos just to get one.
Everything else is just terrible.

I think the new minipets are awesome. (Especially the Mini Gwen!!) I also think perhaps players are a little too used to getting exactly everything they think they should have from ArenaNet, as though they were entitled to it. It saddens me to see people so ungrateful.
Just because your digital gift wasn't the digital gift you *wanted* (and there was contention even as to that), doesn't give you the right to whine and complain as though you were a five year old. "But Auntie Gaaaaaaaaaaaile! You said I was getting something *other* than a minipet!!!!11one NOBODY wants another stupid minipet!!!!one" *pout*
Sheesh.

Well, that would be unfair to those who HAVE been supporting Guild Wars from the beginning.
Honestly, people, be grateful. Otherwise, Anet just won't give birthday gifts at all in following years. And while I'm sure some people would love that, I don't think the majority would.
Remember the little "headstart" of Factions we got to enjoy by pre-ordering, and then everyone complained when it finally ended like a week later? Well, that will never happen again, because of all the complaints. GJ, all. If you HATE mini-pets fine. Sell them, give them away, or delete them. It's not like you have to use them.
But quit complaining and ruining the game for the rest of us, please!

I say if you don't like it, ANet should just remove it from your inventory. It is a gift. It is optional.
And the BS about keeping you interested is BS. A freaking mini pet is not going to be a factor if you are going to spend $50. That is utterly a dumb argument.
Yes, you may think it sux. That is cool. But stop posting as if ANet owes you anything. And to say if 'they did this' all would be better. NO it would not be. You assume your taste and opinion matters to others. They don't. Some people posted other ideas for mini pets in this thread. I think most of them are stupid.
So get over it. Trade it and get some gold. That should make you happy more than the mini pets you hate so much.

First of all, I do want to say that I truly appreciate the fact that A-net does ANYTHING for a characters birthday. However, from my observances of any polls I have seen I seem to see that most people wanted something other than a mini. Admittedly, I have not seen every poll A-net made, but I think one thing that should be taken into considerations is that if you have a poll that gives people a list of a bunch of different options for 2nd birthday presents, you miss out on the number of people that simply want anything other than a minipet. With this groups vote spread, the minipet will likely come out as a clear winner as it did. Anyways, even though I can't say I'm wild about the idea of getting another minipet myself, I do send my thanks to A-net for trying and Gaile for putting up with all the 2 year old trash mouth brats that continually flame her.

Thank you for saving me the time to type out what I was going to type. Instead I'll just second what you said, especially the point about minipets keeping people interested in the game.

The new Minis are great.
I look forward to when my first character turns two in about eight months.
It's a Birthday Gift, for goodness sake.!
I have actually cringed with embarrassment at some of the comments that have been made by members of the community in this thread.
If you do not like your gift, sell it and buy something you do like.
Moving on.......

I dont think its unfair for players who supported different games to get different minipets. If you got different pets for factions characters, then you couldnt get the minis that prophecies players got and vice-versa.
I do think Its unfair that players who supported a different game get flood to the market with minipets for 18 months before somebody from nightfall gets a crack at his minipet. I do think that its unfair that a factions player who started on day one can only get a mini that he could have bought in town the same day that he started. It's a lame gift.
This is a complaint about first year minipets, not second year minipets, and applies to people who actually want them because they havent gotten them yet.

Whilst im a bit disappointed at the 2nd bday presents being mini's, I'm more disappointed at the lack of creativity on the part of the devs for not coming up with their own unique ideas for 2nd bday gifts. Why would a seemingly talented group of individuals that gave us this wonderful game need polls and ideas from the fan base for something like this?
Now that we're stuck with mini's for bday #2, wtf was the thinking behind the xmas elf? I saw them in Kamadan and they are hideous (as was the elf potion). If they wanted to go with a holiday icon for a mini, how about Mad King Thorn or a grenchie? Now any of those woulda been totally kewl, especially MKT!
I'm also in total agreement that the gifts should not be given out unequally (i.e. white, purp, gold, green pets). If mini's are given as gifts, then lets give out certificates per say, and let the players redeem them for the mini of their choice. Especially since they're on this new movement to bring about more equality amongst the players, it would seem like a logical idea.
Just my 2 ยข.
